Vivianite Blue Journey

Hi everyone,

First post one the site! Finally getting back to online updates

So when I first saw Vivianite I was unsure about its relevance for my art due to its fragility and low inclusion amount (which I adore, structure/color variance in a stone is what I love!).

However, when I started moving over to natural/pure colors I thought its uniformity will be quite good for pigment making hence why I ordered this piece –

I started by crushing it with a hammer to smaller more workable pieces

After which I tried to grind it with glass mortar and pestle

Until it was a satisfying blue pigment, it looked amazing as it was of course but..

When I introduced it to watercolor medium it shifted into being so much more bold and pigmented than I expected, it was truly beautiful.

So, well, that is it for this post! Hope you liked seeing my first one!
Will try to document interesting bits here and there for you all, both of the artistic process and of the results!
